On the side of the castle facing the terraced garden, which leads directly to the vineyard, a fishpond in the shape of a long canal formerly ran along the whole length of the building and parallel to it. A 17th-century twin staircase, ornamented with "cascades, shells and ribbing" and which formerly had a porch structure, runs up to the centre of this façade. The door at the top of this perron is flanked by four tall windows, and a square tower tops each end of the building. The two towers overlooking the garden have been renovated and are now back to their original height, adding interest to the roof. Two wings run back from these towers perpendicular to the main part; these also feature two square towers recalling those on the building facing the garden. A fourth building was added between these wings to create a courtyard. Access to this is through a vaulted gateway topped by a remarkable dovecot.
In one corner of the courtyard stands a chapel decorated with large, 17th-century grisaille frescoes of saints. One of the towers also has some remains of frescoes, which give a hint of how sumptuously the house was probably decorated, with painted ceilings, wood panelling and mural paintings.
